Overview:
When running email marketing campaigns through Simpu, it's important to understand the different statuses that can be associated with your emails. This guide will explain the most common email statuses and what they mean.
Bounced:
A bounced email is one that was not successfully delivered to the recipient's inbox. There are two main types of bounces:
- **Hard Bounce**: A hard bounce occurs when the email address is invalid, doesn't exist, or the recipient's server has permanently blocked delivery. Hard bounces are unrecoverable and you should remove these email addresses from your mailing list.
- **Soft Bounce**: A soft bounce happens when a temporary delivery issue occurs, such as the recipient's mailbox being full or the recipient's server being down. Soft bounces may be retried for a period of time before being classified as a hard bounce.
Delivered:
A "delivered" status means the email was accepted by the recipient's server and is presumed to have been successfully delivered to the inbox. However, it doesn't guarantee the email was actually opened or read by the recipient.
Sent:
The "sent" status indicates the email has been successfully handed off from Simpu to the recipient's email server for delivery. It does not mean the email was actually delivered to the inbox.
Opened:
When an email recipient opens your message, Simpu registers an "opened" status. This can provide valuable insights into engagement with your content.
Clicked:
A "clicked" status means one or more links within your email campaign were clicked by the recipient. Tracking link clicks helps you understand which content resonates best with your audience.
Dropped:
Emails may be "dropped" from your campaign for a few reasons:
- The email address was manually removed from your mailing list.
- The email address triggered spam filters and was blocked from delivery.
- The email was part of a suppression list, preventing it from being sent.
Reviewing your dropped emails can help you improve list hygiene and deliverability over time.
Understanding these common email statuses will help you effectively track the performance of your Simpu email broadcasts and make data-driven decisions to optimize your marketing efforts.
